RETAS staff join forces with online giving charity to help clients in difficulty
The last few months have been a challenge for everyone, a time to pull together and support those around us. Here at RETAS we would like to mention one particular organisation that has allowed us to support those in crisis during these difficult times. This organisation is Acts 435.
In their own words “Acts 435 is an online giving charity, directly connecting those who want to give with those who are in genuine need of their help, through a network of local churches and charities.” We, as RETAS advisers on the 28-Day Transition Project and New Roots project are Act 435 advocates, meaning that we can place requests for applicants with particular, often urgent, needs. Donors can then donate to specific causes of their choice, for which they receive a bespoke thank you message from the applicant.
One client who received £150 from Acts 435 to purchase a washing machine for his new property told us:
“Thank you very much, that is a great help to me. Many thanks to you and to an amazing organisation RETAS for all help I have received”
Fidelis Chebe, RETAS Operations and Development Manager says:
"Our connection with Acts 435 shows how working in partnerships with other organisations can have a positive impact to resolve the wide-ranging needs of our clients. RETAS advisers exemplify good casework advocacy in overcoming barriers and negotiating support for clients."
Since March, RETAS advisers have raised £11,015 for clients in need through Acts 435’s giving platform. An achievement of which we are immensely proud. We look forward to continuing to work with Acts 435 in the future to empower those in crisis to access the support they need!
